Are you curious about which foods to avoid in order to prevent cancer? It is important to know which ingredients are cancer-promoting or carcinogens. Experts at Food site Asian Pantry say that knowing which ingredients can cause cancer is key. You can then read labels and steer clear of those foods.
What happens when you change the structure of food?
After it has been cooked, baked, boiled or fried, protein, especially, will become denatured. Denatures is a term that refers to changing the structure of food (for protein, the amino-acids alter their structure). Some food components can become mutagenic when they are denatured. Our bodies are unable to remove these mutagenic foods particles. There are antioxidants that can neutralize some of the free radicals released by these mutagenic particles. Cancer can be started by free radicals that damage our cells.
What are the ingredients to avoid?
Let’s begin with sugar. Sugar in the bloodstream is one of the main ways that cancerous tumors can grow. You are giving your body the sugar it needs to grow cancerous tumors by continually overfeeding it with sugar.
Next comes sodium nitrite. This chemical is used to give food, mainly bacon and lunch meats, a reddish-colored and fresh appearance. Salt was once used to preserve meats, but eventually, manufacturers switched to this more dangerous method of preservation.
Hydrogenated oils are another option. Hydrogenation occurs when oils are heated with metal catalysts and hydrogen. This preserves their shelf life but also produces trans fats. Trans fats can cause cancer and even disrupt metabolic processes.
The acrylamide factor is the final. When starchy foods are heated to high temperatures, acrylamides are formed.
Taking all the above into account…
These are the top 5 foods that can cause cancer.
Hot Dogs– Usually preserved in sodium nitrite, and full of fat (among many other things!)
Donuts – These donuts contain hydrogenated oils and sugars, as well as white flour and acrylamides. Talk about the perfect food that can cause cancer!
French Fries are often made with hydrogenated oils. Acrylamides would also be present.
Bacon – High levels of saturated fats and nitrites. Some may be available without, but it’s best to inquire.
Crackers & Chips – These products usually contain white flour, sugar, trans fats, and/or sugar. MSG can also be hidden in yeast extract by many manufacturers. They also mess with serving sizes, so you end up eating a lot more bad stuff that you realize.
This is it. These foods can be avoided most of the day and you will avoid the dreaded “C” word.
